(West Point)From Mopac, take RM 2222 to 620. Take a left at 620 and go a few miles. You will see the dam off to your right. Just past the dam is an road to the right. Take the road and turn into the second driveway to your left (the first roadway to the left is easy to turn into by mistake). The ranger station is only a couple of hundred feet down the driveway. Pay your $5 and enter the park.Windy Point: Bob Wentz Park & Windy Point ParkFrom Mopac, take RM 2222 to 620. Take a left at 620 and go about 1 mile. Make a right turn at a stop light for Commanche Trail. This is the road leading to the Oasis Restaurant and there is a sign which gives the distance to Bob Wentz/Windy Point park as well. Drive a few miles until you get to a sign (on the right side) which points to the entrance to Windy Point. There are two parks to choose from.Volente Beach - 16107 FM 2769, Volente, TXBob Wentz Park (aka LCRA, aka 'public side'). Follow the paved driveway that goes to the left of the small store. Go to the entrance, pay your $5, and drive all the way across the bridge to get to the end of the park. We can drive on the ramp to the beach to unload gear, we just can't park on it.
Windy Point Park (aka 'private side', Barstow's). 14421 Ridgetop Terrace. Follow the gravel paved driveway that goes to the right of the small store. There are carts which you can use to carry your gear from your car to the diving area.
Check out their new website http://www.windypointpark.com/Go west to Lake Travis along FM 2222. FM 2222 turns into Bullick Hollow Road at the intersection with 620. Keep going straight for about 3.1 miles past 620 until Bullick Hollow ends in a T-intersection. Make a left at the intersection onto RM 2769. Go about 3.8 miles until you come to a very well marked development with Volente Beach signs everywhere. The road continues off to the right, while you should bear left to go down the driveway leading to the boatramp. Go to the end of the dirt ramp to the water's edge and park along the right side. We will suit up from there. The tricky part is going back to town the way you came in as it is NOT clearly marked from that direction. Took about 40 min from central Austin.
